Italy provides six-year Medicine (MBBS/MD) programs that are globally recognized. The  application procedure for applying to Medical programs in Italy generally begins in November. The initial stage in the application procedure is to pass the targeted university’s entrance exam.

Because most universities take their own entrance test, Medicine program applications can be made without taking the IMAT.

Italy has 17 universities that offer Medical programs. Among the 17 universities, 13 are public universities these universities are highly ranked and have received accreditation from renowned organizations such as World Health Organizations (WHO) and National Medical Council (NMC)

The Italian universities acceptance rate ranges from 20% to 90% and the tuition for the Medical program is around 18,000 – 22,000 USD or 66,115 – 80,808 AED and the cost for Medicine is a lot cheaper when compared to the cost of studying Medicine in Ireland and other European and American destinations.

Medicine Program Entry Requirements: Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore

The admission process in Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore begins in December as the registration for the entrance test and it is held in April. 

The admission exam is a computer-based written exam that is entirely in English and contains 65 multiple-choice questions with five answer options. Only one response option is available to candidates.

The applicant must be at least 17 years old and in their final year of high school at the time of application or have already completed high school.

A certificate of academic eligibility for 12 years of education must be provided by the candidate.

Medicine Program Entry Requirements: Humanitas University

Humanitas University’s admissions procedure begins in December with the registration for the entrance exam, which takes place in April.

The admissions test is exclusively administered in English. A total of sixty (60) multiple-choice questions must be answered by the candidates. There will be four possible responses, but only one is correct. The test will be conducted from the comfort of one’s own home.

A diploma is deemed valid for students with a foreign high school diploma if it was received after at least 12 years of schooling and is complemented by a Declaration of Value issued by the Italian diplomatic authorities.

Medicine Program Entry Requirements: Vita-Salute San Raffaele University

For students with a foreign high school diploma, a diploma is considered genuine if it was obtained after at least 12 years of schooling and is accompanied by a Declaration of Value issued by the Italian diplomatic authorities. 

The student must have proof of twelve years of schooling and fill the online application form with the application fee of 56 USD.

Medicine Program Entry Requirements: Unicamillus- St. Camillus University of Health Sciences

The admissions process at Unicamillus-St. Camillus University of Health Sciences begins in November with the registration for the entrance exam, which takes place in November.

The admissions test is a multiple-choice written exam with five answer alternatives from which the candidate must choose only one, discarding any wrong, arbitrary, or less likely conclusions. It consists of 60 questions administered in English and divided into four sections based on the programs listed  

  • 15 logical reasoning and text comprehension questions;
  • 35 scientific questions [10 biology, 10 chemistry, 5 mathematics, and 10 physics ];
  • 10 questions on humanitarian subjects pending the University’s special humanitarian goal.

The admissions test will take 60 minutes to complete.

Eligibility criteria for Medicine Programs in Italy 

In order to get admitted to MBBS colleges/universities in Italy, you must have a minimum of 50% in physics, chemistry, and biology, as well as a NEET may be a requirement for Indian students. Medical courses in Italy that are taught in English require students to take the IELTS or TOEFL to demonstrate their linguistic competence.

The IMAT exam is not mandatory since some universities conduct their internal entrance examination. However, many top medical universities in Italy require applicants to qualify in the IMAT. Therefore, students are advised to check their preferred university requirements.
