Lincoln University (LU) is a private non-profit, non-secretarial educational institution founded by Dr. Benjamin Lickey in 1919. It is a small university in Oakland, California with a total student enrollment of around 500.

Lincoln University helps students in renting affordable shared apartments in the City of Alameda. Alameda is a safe community located on an island south of downtown Oakland. These apartments are not owned by the University but are maintained and furnished by it. The apartment complex offers high-speed internet access, a pool, fitness center, laundry facilities, and is located near a bus stop with a short commuting distance to Lincoln University.
Alternatively, students may opt to find apartments from housing websites or independent rental agencies and share them with other students. Some off-campus housing providers include Roomies, 4stay, Sublet, Zillow, and Room Match.

- Original high school diploma, or an equivalent certificate for secondary education with attestation.
- Official transcripts or other documentation to prove high school graduation or its equivalent
- Official transcripts from each post-secondary program from which applicants wish to transfer credit.
- A photocopy of the passport or equivalent document
- An applicant’s declaration of finances or sponsor’s affidavit of support with a bank statement or a verification letter from an officer of the bank or other financial institution giving the present balance, which must equal or exceed the amount required for one year of study ($20,065).
- English proficiency test scores are required for students from schools, where English is not the medium of teaching. The eligibility is as below:

Undergraduate admission requirements
- A minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 on the scale of 4.0 on the high school graduation transcripts or GED test or an equivalent test.
- A one-page essay explaining the applicant’s interest in the opted Lincoln University program.
- Additional requirements only for Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic imaging:
- The Scholastic Level Examination (SLE) with a passing score above 21 (this requirement is not needed for applicants with a bachelor’s degree).
- Interview with the Program Director.
Postgraduate admission requirements
- A minimum GPA of 2.0 on a scale of 4.0 on the high school graduation transcripts or GED test or an equivalent test.
- A minimum GPA of 2.7 or better on the scale of 4.0 on the bachelor’s degree or its equivalent. Conditional admission to the program may be granted to applicants with GPA 2.0 -2.6.
- A resume with a summary of all work, extracurricular activities, and educational history of the applicant.
- A one-page essay explaining the applicant’s interest in the opted Lincoln University program.
- Additional requirements for MS:
- A GMAT score of at least 500 or an equivalent GRE score.
- Two letters of recommendation.

- A cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above on the scale of 4.0 on the bachelor’s or master’s degree.
- A GMAT score of 550 or GRE score of 1000, and three letters of recommendation.

Scholarships for international students
- The Board of Trustees Scholarship:
This scholarship is awarded by the University to students with superior academic records. The scholarship covers up to two semesters’ full-time tuition. Miscellaneous fees for these semesters will be borne by the student.
The application requirement includes submission of transcripts, a Board of Trustees Scholarship Application Form, two letters of recommendation, and a brief essay. Students must submit all the requirements at least one month before the commencement of a semester.
The awards will be given based on academic excellence and potential to become an outstanding student at Lincoln University. The Lincoln University Scholarship Committee will interview applicants, select winners, and announce them before the semester commences.
- Discounts and Waivers
Lincoln University has tuition discounts or waivers policy from the University funds to selected students based on their financial need (such as health problems, family issues, stimulation for future studies, loss of financial support/sponsor, nature disasters) or merit.
The discounts are awarded only for a specific academic term and cover a part of a student’s tuition. The student may be re-awarded for continuing academic terms after assessment of the need and situation.
The application requirement includes the formal application, a letter explaining the circumstances, and supporting documents (if any) to the President’s Office. The discounts or waivers are awarded at the President’s discretion. The discount amount is based on the number of units a student plans to take during a semester.
