Founded in 1967, the University of Canberra College is an open university affiliated with the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning and the New Generation Universities. The university was previously known as the Canberra College of Advanced Education. In 1990, it was elevated to the status of a university. It is a public research university based in Bruce, Canberra, in the Australian Capital Territory. The campus is a short walk from Westfield Belconnen and 8.7 kilometers (5.4 miles) from Canberra’s Civic Centre. Campus and accommodation
According to the university’s official website, the campus of the University of Canberra is surrounded by open space, natural tranquility, large trees, and animals. The university is also close to the city and students can enjoy their social life. They have a busy social area offering something for everyone, including great cuisine, hip cafés, events, and markets. Regular public buses may drop you directly on campus, which is surrounded by Lake Ginninderra, the new suburb of Lawson, Radford College, and residential accommodation.
Students can find an on-campus medical and counseling service, the Australian Institute of Sport, Calvary Public Hospital, Belconnen Shopping Mall, and a range of eateries all located within walking distance of the residential buildings.
The lodging provided by this university is fairly modern and trendy. Cooper Lodge, Cooper Lodge 2, Weeden Lodge, and the University of Canberra Village all provide housing for students.
- Cooper Lodge began operational in January 2014, but Cooper Lodge 2 is still in the planning stages. This residence is located close to Building 5, making it very handy for students.
- UniLodge owns and manages this facility, which provides self-catering studio flats as well as multi-share apartments.
- The Weeden Lodge is an active accommodation with over 480 bedrooms that is conveniently placed between the Belconnen Mall and the University. There are both studio type and multi-share flats available in this facility, based on the unique interests of the students.
The University of Canberra Village dormitories is the University’s largest on-campus residential facility. This facility provides self-catering options ranging from twelve-bed dorms to one-bedroom flats. With the Cooper Lodge 2 opening soon, there will be enough space to accommodate all students. UC Lodge, Weeden Lodge, and Cooper Lodge provide up to 950 apartments or studios.
Admission requirements for international students
Undergraduate Admissions
For UG, PG as well as research students, applications can be filled out on the university’s official website. The deadline and other important dates can be found on the same website. The university does not charge any application fees from international students for its programs. Because the majority of programs are open for Spring admission, the application deadlines are often in July. Please keep in mind that most courses have unique deadlines, and certain programs may have rolling deadlines.
