The Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS), was founded in 1993. It is a prominent institute for higher professional education in the Netherlands. They mostly provide bachelor’s degree programs, and also offer a few master’s degree programs. It is also possible for students to join from the university’s foreign partner institutes. They can study as exchange students at the university. AUAS is also situated as the Netherlands’ capital which is home to individuals from 180 different countries. Based on the four NVAO Standards, these reflective evaluations encourage ownership and a tailored approach.

Admission requirements for international students

To be admitted into AUAS you must have completed secondary education equal to the Dutch HAVO, VWO, or MBO 4 (these are all higher Dutch education bodies). You are also required to be proficient in English and need the various scores on related tests:

  •  IELTS (6.0 subscores not lower than 5.5)
  •  TOEFL (iBT 80 subscores not lower than 20)
  •  TOEIC (LR670+SW290) of Cambridge (First (FCE) Grade B (173-175) /First (FCE) Grade C (169-172))

Additionally, you may also be required to sit for an interview and provide the following documents:

  • A Bachelor’s degree.
  • A transcript (grade list).
  • A CV.
  • A motivation letter.

Application Process

In order to apply to AUAS, international students must keep in mind particular deadlines. The dates and deadlines for all these procedures are on the University website. The deadline for most programs is usually May 1st, 2022. You must first however meet admission requirements and apply through Studielink.

Studielink is the website where you may apply for the different degree programs in the Netherlands. You will first need a DigiID to register in Studielink. If you don’t have a DigiD yet request one via www.digid.nl  and send an email to csa@hva.nl.

Scholarships offered by AUAS for international students

There are many scholarships offered by AUAS for international students. Here are some of the most popular ones:

Amsterdam Talent Scholarship (ATS)

The ATS scholarship is awarded at the end of every academic year to non-European students who have been enrolled in one of the programs at AUAS. This scholarship is eligible only for students who have:

  • Obtained a Dutch Visa.
  • Paid the full institutional fee.
  • Has obtained all 60 credits in the complete academic year, with a minimum average grade of 7.0.

This scholarship covers 50 percent of the institutional fee of the applied program.

Holland Scholarship

The holland scholarship is a government grant offered to international students studying in the Netherlands. It is a 5260 USD* scholarship that is awarded only once to students. In order to be eligible for this scholarship, you must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Applied for a study program at a Dutch University.
  • Must be paying the full tuition fee.
  • Meet the requirements set by AUAS.
  • Applied in an eligible English-taught program at AUAS.
  • Applied before the deadline of the academic year 2022/2023 which is 1 May 2022.
