Foundation Programs
A foundation program is (generally) the most direct route to university for international students who have completed their high school examinations and desire to study at the UK or European university but do not qualify for direct admission.
A foundation is a one-year preparation program that combines English language and academic preparation in order to bridge an academic gap and strengthen your English language skills in order to gain admission to an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in the United Kingdom or the European Union. English Language
English Language courses typically lasts one to three terms and provide students with the opportunity to improve their English language skills, which is an important component of academic success. Courses range from academic studies to bridge the gap some students may have developed with the UK style of university teaching to general English language (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) to achieve the required IELTS for progression to a foundation program.
Depending on the English course they enroll in, students can expect to learn a variety of general English language skills such as speaking, reading, writing, and listening. Academic writing, critical analysis, citation, and seminar skills are some of the more academically focused abilities. The overall goal of these courses is to prepare students for academic study at UK universities.
Undergraduate Foundation
A one-year (3-term) Undergraduate Foundation program leads successful students to a UK university. Depending on the pathway chosen or the anticipated advancement degree, students will generally study three to four courses in addition to the English language. The level of English proficiency is one of the most important requirements for university admission, and it is critical for success in addition to filling any academic gaps.
Students may spend up to five hours per week in class per subject and must devote a similar amount of time to self-directed learning.
International Year One (1Y1)
An International Year One program is a one-year (3-term) program that prepares successful students for university Year 2. Students will normally study three to four courses in addition to English, depending on the course chosen or the anticipated advancement degree. Understanding English for academic purposes is necessary for students to complete assignments and bridge academic gaps, enabling them to excel at university. Because successful candidates can proceed to Year 2 of a related degree, the IELTS admission levels are higher than for an Undergraduate Foundation. Students will spend up to five hours per week in class per subject and must devote a comparable amount of time to independent study.
Master’s Foundation
Depending on the subject and progression route, a Master’s Foundation program (also known as master’s preparatory program or pre-pathway) masters can be taught in one to four terms, though it is usually taught in three (1 year). Additionally, provide successful students with the opportunity to pursue a master’s degree at their preferred university. Students usually take 2-3 modules in addition to English for Academic Purposes. One of the most crucial requirements for university admission is an English language level, which can help fill in any academic shortfalls.
Students will spend up to five hours per week in class per module and be required to devote a similar amount of time to self-directed learning.
Medicine Undergraduate Foundation
A Medicine Undergraduate Foundation is a one-year (3-term) program that prepares students to apply to the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) Year 1 program at UCLan. Students will typically study three to four disciplines in addition to English, depending on the pathway chosen. English language proficiency is one of the most important requirements for university admission, and it is critical to students’ success in addition to filling any academic deficiencies.
Students will be required to spend up to five hours per week in class per subject and a similar amount of time on self-directed learning.

Undergraduate Foundation Program (UFP)
ONCAMPUS Amsterdam is here to help you prepare for your studies at the University of Amsterdam as an undergraduate. This one-year (3-term) program will be offered by the University of Amsterdam’s cutting-edge Center, which is located in the heart of campus. You will be eligible to apply for a variety of degrees after completing your Undergraduate Foundation program. You will have the option of applying to alternative, non-guaranteed progression degrees as part of the university selection process.

- The progression pass mark (in academic modules) is 60%. (with no module scoring less than 40%)

- 80%on average in Advanced Maths Modules 1, 2, and 4 or a 75%on the Advanced Maths admission exam.
Economics and Business pathway Non-guaranteed progression degrees

Progression Requirements
- English is a must. 6.5 on the IELTS scale (with no single element lower than 6.0)
- For progression (in academic modules), a student must achieve a passing grade of 60%. (with no module below 40 percent )
- Because there are only a few spots available on this program, applicants must go through a screening process that includes a test.

The Master’s Qualifying Program is designed to prepare you for postgraduate study at the University of Amsterdam. You will be guaranteed* progression after successfully completing this one-year (2 semesters) program

Progression Requirements
- IELTS score of 6.0 is required for English level (with no element lower than 5.5)
- Students must be 21+
- Academic requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in a comparable field with high grades.
- Please provide a GRE score of 155 in Quantitative Reasoning or a GMAT score of 48 in Quantitative Reasoning for the Economics track.
- If your Bachelor’s degree only has a small amount of quantitative research methods content, or if your degree is unrelated to business, please submit a GMAT score.

Undergraduate Foundation Program requirements
- For 3-term UFP, an IELTS score of 5.0 or equivalent is required, with 5.0 in writing and no single element below 4.5.
* If you do not yet have the required English language level, extended programs are offered. This program lasts four terms and includes English language modules (ELPP), as well as the three Foundation terms required to apply for admission to your undergraduate degree’s first year.

Your application will be reviewed, and depending on your English proficiency and academic background, you may be assigned to a 3- or 4-term program.
Master’s Foundation program
Requirements
- For 4 terms, a minimum of 5.0 IELTS or equivalent is necessary, with no single element below 5.0.
- For 3 terms – an IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent is necessary, with no single element below 5.5.
- For 2 terms, a minimum of 6.0 IELTS or equivalent is necessary, with no single element below 6.0.
- If you don’t yet have the required level of English, you can enroll in an Extended Program. These programs comprise English language modules (ELPP), followed by the three Foundation terms required to apply for admission to your Master’s degree first year.

To enroll in this program, you must have earned a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from a recognized university.

Scholarship opportunities at OnCampus for International Students
The Scholarship is accessible to students who complete their Foundation studies at
ONCAMPUS UK North in 2019/20 and choose UCLan for their degree studies in 2020/21.
Eligibility
- Any student who successfully completes an ONCAMPUS UK North Undergraduate or Master Foundation program in 2019 or 2020 and then progresses to an undergraduate or postgraduate taught program at the University of Central Lancashire as indicated below is eligible for the UCLan-ONCAMPUS Scholarship worth 2,265 USD per year (with the exception of the MBBS program).
- Students enrolled on ONCAMPUS in 2019-20 and progressing to UCLan in September 2020 will get a scholarship to attend UCLan.
- Students who receive this scholarship may also be eligible for the International Bursary, which pays 1,135 USD per year to international students (if applicable)
Application Process
When you successfully complete the Undergraduate or Master Foundation program, the Admissions Team will specify the scholarship on your unconditional offer letter for your degree program, reducing the tuition fee payable for each year of study on your chosen program.
