Bachelor’s degree programs in the Corvinus University of Budapest are available across Applied Economics, Business and Management, International Relations, Sociology, and more. Moreover, graduate students can participate in master’s degree programs offered by the Corvinus University of Budapest and obtain a double degree by training at foreign partner universities under the dual degree program.

Students can enroll with the Language Examination Center to test for the General Language exam in English or German. In addition, the special-purpose language test includes the Economics exam in English, French, German, Italian, Russian, Portuguese, and Spanish, and the International Relations exam comprises English, French, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish. Upon passing the examination, the student will receive a language examination certificate from the Hungarian state.

Campus and accommodation

Campuses

The Corvinus University of Budapest has two campuses: the Közgáz campus and the Székesfehérvár campus.

1) Közgáz Campus: The Közgáz Campus has three buildings: E, C, and Sóház, which are in close vicinity to one another.

Building E, located at 1093 Budapest, Fővám tér 8, is often identified with Corvinus. The classic two-story building, with its beautiful marble and granite decorations designed by Miklós Ybl and spread across roughly a hectare of area, is recognized as one of the iconic symbols of Budapest. Building E offers business courses and is also the center for student services. In addition, the Corvinus Shop and cafeteria are present in this building.

The next building Sóház, located at 1093 Budapest, Fővám tér 13-15, is a few steps away from building E. It is the Information Technology Center of the university. Sóház has several computer labs and offers IT-related courses. 

The third building of Közgáz Campus, building C, is located behind Sóház. Building C, located at 1093 Budapest, Közraktár utca 4-6, offers Social Sciences courses. Library, with large reading rooms, is present on the first floor.

2) Székesfehérvár Campus: The campus is located at 8000 Székesfehérvár, Budai út 43. Unique to Székesfehérvár is the dual course degrees. The campus provides air-conditioned dormitories and modern labs, and a library.

Accommodation

The dormitories at the Corvinus University can accommodate up to 1100 students in rooms with 2-3 beds (in some cases, with 4-5 beds). There are three dormitories for this university:

1) The Kinizsi Dormitory is in the university’s central building at 1092 Budapest, Kinizsi utca 2-6, and can accommodate 400 students. Kinizsi has two seven-story wings, each wing having rooms with 2 or 3 beds. 

  • A kitchen with a microwave and gas cooker is available at each level.
  • Every level also has an ironing corner.
  • Personal kitchen cabinets are available for students.
  • Showers and laundry rooms with automatic washing machines are available for personal hygiene.
  • All rooms are wifi enabled.
  • Computer and study rooms are located on the ground floor, which several students can use at once.

Dormitory Fees:

Room for two persons: 82.50 USD per person per month

Room for 3-4 persons: 78 USD per person per month

2) The Tarkaréti Dormitory, located at 1106 Budapest, Tarkarét u. 6, is only offered to first-year students. This dormitory has been subjected to frequent renovations and improvements for added comfort to its inhabitants. 

  • Each room has three beds. In addition, washrooms with hot and cold water, a wardrobe, and a refrigerator are provided. 
  • In addition, each room is wifi enabled, and a kitchen is available equipped with two electric stoves and a microwave oven.

Dormitory Fees (Room for three persons): 78 USD per person per month

3) Often referred to as the “Ráday Dormitory,” the Ferenc Földes Dormitory, located at 1092 Budapest, Ráday utca 43-45, can accommodate 300 students in rooms with 2, 3 or 4-beds. 

  • Most rooms are designed so that two rooms share a bathroom, while a few rooms have their bathroom. 
  • Automatic washing machines, dryers, kitchens on each floor are available.

Admission requirements for international students

Information about the eligibility and admission process for undergraduate and graduate programs are listed below:

Undergraduate Admissions

Eligibility to apply to the undergraduate courses at the Corvinus University of Budapest is subject to the fulfillment of the following requirements:

  • Completed secondary education 
  • Mathematics proficiency (not required for degrees in Communication and Media Science, International Relations, and Sociology)
  • A minimum of B2 level of English
  • A valid passport
  • Preliminary Interview (only for Sociology)

Applicants for Bachelor’s programs may be invited for an interview or admission test.

Mathematics Proficiency

Applicants for BSc Applied Economics, BSc Business and Management, and BSc International Business are required to show proof of their mathematics proficiency through any of the following minimum scores:

  • Advanced Placement Exam ( Mathematics AB or BC), minimum grade of 3
  • SAT Subject Test Mathematics Level II exam, minimum of 680 points
  • ACT exam, minimum of 27 points.

Applicants who cannot furnish any one of the qualifications mentioned above are required to pass Corvinus’ Mathematics exam, details of which are discussed below: 

Mathematics Test

Applicants will take Corvinus’ internal mathematics test for BSc Applied Economics, BSc Business and Management, and BSc International Business who do not meet mathematics proficiency requirements. (Applicants of other degrees are not required to take a mathematics test.)

  • The mathematics exam is conducted online.
  • For Stipendium Hungaricum and Diaspora nominees: The exam will be held between 6-8 April 2022
  • For Self-funded applicants (early bird examination): The exam will be held between 6-8 April 2022
  • For Self-funded applicants (later date examination): The exam will be held between 23-25 May 2022
  • The minimum pass percentage is 56%

Oral Examination / Interview

This interview is only for BA Communications, BA International Relations, and BA Sociology applicants to assess their knowledge related to the subject, relevant skills, and motivation.

  • Interviews are held via Teams or Zoom
  • For Stipendium Hungaricum and Diaspora nominees: Interviews will take place between 19-22 April 2022
  • for self-funded applicants (early-bird appointments): Between 19-22 April 2022
  • for self-funded applicants (later appointments): Between 7–10 June 2022 
  • The interview pass percentage is 56%

  • In progress secondary education certificates and transcripts
  • Proof of English language proficiency
  • A valid passport
  • Letter of motivation – minimum one page (only for scholarship applicants)
  • CV/resume (only for scholarship applicants)

Graduate/postgraduate admissions

Students can apply for master’s programs if they fulfill the following criteria:

  • Completed bachelor/undergraduate degree
  • A minimum of B2 level of English
  • Credit Requirements

 Hungary has legal prerequisite credit requirements to study graduate programs. An applicant will need a minimum of 40 ETCS constituted from any of the following areas: 

Science: at least 10 ECTS

Business and Human Resource Management: at least 20 ECTS

Informatics: at least 40 ECTS

Applicants for Master’s programs may be invited for an interview or admission test.

Competency Test 

Applicants for all MA/MSc programs must take a competency test.

  • The competency test is conducted online.
  • For Stipendium Hungaricum and Diaspora nominees: The exam will be held between 4-5 April 2022
  • For Self-funded applicants (early bird examination): The exam will be held between 4-5 April 2022
  • For Self-funded applicants (later date examination): The exam will be held between 19-20 May 2022

Pre-Interview Test

Only applicants of MSc Business Informatics, MSc Economic Analysis, MSc Finance, MSc International Economy and Business, MA International Relations, MSc Marketing, MSc Public Policy, and Management AND have passed the Competency Test are required to take the pre-interview test. The pass percentage is 50%.

Applicants who cleared the Competency Test and Pre-interview test will be eligible for an oral exam/Interview. Interviews are usually held online via Skype, Teams, or Zoom.

  • Visegrad Scholarship

The Visegrad Scholarship program is available to students from Central Eastern Europe who wish to apply for MSc, MA, and MBA. The scholarship covers four semesters and a USD 1660 discount from tuition fees, and an additional payment of USD 2768 directly to the scholarship recipients.

  • Corvinus Scholarship

Self-funded students with satisfactory academic performance can avail of a cash benefit that covers all or part of the tuition fees for one semester. However, students who are holders of Stipendium Hungaricum or whose fees are paid by employers cannot apply for the scholarship.

  1. Other scholarships based on outstanding extracurricular activities, merit, or social needs are available to students in undergraduate programs, single-cycle master’s programs (from the second semester), and second cycle master’s programs (from the first semester).

On 1 July 2019, the Corvinus University of Budapest became a private university controlled by a foundation. The Hungarian state previously maintained it.

The university provides preparation materials. Materials for selected courses are already available on the official website. The website will update materials for more programs soon.

The acceptance range of Corvinus University ranges from 50%-60%, making it moderately selective. Acceptance is dependent on the fulfillment of their eligibility requirements and successful result in their entrance tests.

For students whose high school ends at a lower level than Hungary, the university advises them to enroll in the preparation program. Students with a B1 level of English are also advised to join the program. The preparation program is not suitable for students with a lower than B1 level of English.
