The University of Nicosia

The School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Nicosia came into existence in the year 2011. The school offers an undergraduate DVM course of 5 years duration. Both the faculty and DVM course have received accreditation from the Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education (CYQAA). Plus, the degree is recognized by the EU/EEA countries. The faculty at the School of Veterinary Medicine is global and are experts in both small and large animal medicine.

The curriculum of the courses is designed per the guidelines set by the World Organization for Animal Health. Students get exposed to animal care from the first year itself.

Admission requirements for the DMV program

Near East University

The Near East University started the first school of veterinary medicine in Cyprus in 2009. The faculty has 13 full-time professors and 10 to 15 part-time lecturers. All the theoretical teaching happens in lecture halls. The clinical teaching is taken place at the animal hospital and two farms located outside the main campus. Near East University offers a veterinary program, DVM of 5 years as a second cycle or master’s degree. The course has a total of 300 ECTS credits as per the Bologna system. During the first two years of the DVM course, students learn basic veterinary and clinical sciences. The third, fourth, and half of the fifth year are dedicated to learning clinical subjects like poultry medicine, farm animal medicine, and companion animal medicine. The last semester is reserved for internship.

Scholarships to study Veterinary in Cyprus

There are government-funded scholarships available for foreign students to study in Cyprus. Students from all over the world can apply for scholarships from the Cyprus State Scholarship Foundation. Career scope after studying Veterinary in Cyprus

After graduating from a veterinary school in Cyprus, veterinary doctors have to register in the Veterinary Surgeons Register of the Registrar of Cyprus Veterinary Council. The Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment regulates the council. Aspirants can apply for registration through the Point of Single Contact (PSC Cyprus) portal. They can also post their application via mail. The registration fee is 854 Euros. Upon successful registration, a veterinarian will receive a license to practice. A licensed veterinarian is qualified to examine, treat, operate, and prescribe medications for animals. Cypriot veterinarians can work in the following sectors:
